Getting started

Try it without an account, then create one — email verification and your first project.

Relevant for:Professional ServicesEnterprise / NetOpsAdmin / Owner

Try it without an account#

You do not need to sign up to use the designer. Open the canvas and you get the full thing — the device catalog, the properties panels, validation, and real device configuration generation, capped at 10 generations an hour. Every export works too: the cable schedule, the bill of materials, the handover pack and the design document.

What an account adds is everything that outlives the browser tab: saved projects, sharing and org access, version history, comments, drift detection, and deployment to live devices. A guest design is not stored anywhere, so it is gone when you close the tab.

Tip
Working as a guest and want to keep it? Sign in from the canvas — the design you have open comes with you.

Create your account#

Register with a valid email address — it is your username. A verification link is sent immediately; the account activates only after you click it.

Tip
The verification email can land in junk/spam. If it hasn't arrived in a couple of minutes, check there first — a resend option is available on the sign-in screen.

Passwords must meet the compliance policy: at least 12 characters with upper- and lower-case letters, a number, and a special character. Recent passwords cannot be reused, and two-factor authentication (TOTP) can be enabled from your profile — it is required for owner, admin and lab editor accounts.

Know your role#

New accounts start as Viewer (read-only). An administrator promotes you when you need more:

ViewerRead-only — browse projects and configuration. The default for self-registered accounts.
Editor (Operator)Full design power: create, edit, save, validate, generate, publish. Cannot see other users.
AdminEverything above, plus the Admin Portal: manage accounts and roles, see all projects.
ObserverRestricted watch-only: topology visible, device configuration and IP addressing hidden.

Your first project#

Where to find itDashboardNew ProjectCanvas
  • Open the device catalog (left sidebar), expand a vendor, and click or drag a device onto the canvas.
  • Connect two devices by dragging between their connection points — the port picker assigns real interfaces.
  • Select any device to open its properties panel (right) and work through the tabs.
  • Use Validate early and often; Generate when you want to see real CLI.
Note
Your profile (phone, details, password, 2FA) lives under the avatar menu → Edit Profile. The avatar badge is visible on every page while signed in. Privileged roles (owner, admin, lab editor) must enrol two-factor authentication there before the rest of the app unlocks.
