Site Tabs & the Overview

Multi-canvas projects: one tab per site, a WAN Overview, whole-network validation and per-site exports.

Any project can span multiple canvases, rendered as tabs above the canvas: one tab per site plus a pinned Overview tab that shows every site as a block wired to its WAN fabrics. The Blueprint wizard is the bulk creator, but tabs are a general feature — add, rename, reorder or delete them from the tab bar on any project.

Site tabs#

Each tab is a full canvas. A tab can be bound to a site(code + name + shared site settings — the same inheritance you get from drawn site areas): everything placed on the tab inherits the site's TACACS, NTP, SNMP, DNS and domain settings, and exports group by it. Site hues carry across the tab chip, the Overview block and the tab's WAN stub clouds so a site keeps one visual identity everywhere.

The Overview & inter-site connectivity#

Inter-site connectivity lives on the Overview: WAN fabric clouds (MPLS, Internet, SD-WAN) with an attachment line to each site block. On a site tab, the same fabrics appear as stub clouds carrying a WAN id — stubs with the same id join into one logical fabric for whole-network analysis. Clicking Open on an Overview site block jumps to its tab.

Why
Devices never cable across tabs — a deliberate constraint. The Overview is the single place inter-site reachability is declared, and validation holds it honest in both directions: a site attached on the Overview whose edge devices carry no matching WAN config is flagged, and so is WAN config on a tab with no Overview attachment.

Whole-network validation & analysis#

Validate, Looking Glass and the simulator run over the joined graph — stub clouds merged by WAN id — so a trace can cross sites. Multi-canvas findings include island sites (no WAN attachment), unmatched WAN ids, duplicate site codes, per-site pool overlaps, and the Overview↔config mismatch pair. Clicking a finding switches to the right tab and focuses the device.

Per-site exports#

BOM, cable schedule, rack layout and the firewall handover all understand sites: filter to one site or export everything with per-site sections plus whole-network totals; CSVs gain a Site column when a design spans sites. The HLD adds a WAN overview section, and comments are scoped to the tab they were made on.

Note
Real-time collaboration and lab launch currently support single-canvas projects only — a multi-canvas project falls back to solo editing with a notice, and lab handoff is disabled until multi-tab support lands.
